Made for Kade

We are so excited to bring our little boy home to his room. It's still hard to believe we will soon have a baby across the hall. We spent most of the summer working on his room. It was quite a process and we were told many times that this must be our first child. I'm so glad we were able to put so much thought into his room and take our time with all the details.

It all started with paint! What a difference paint makes!! We used Silver Strand and Simply White by Sherwin Williams. Ryan added the baseboard, window frame and molding. I loved the idea of putting star decals on the top part of the wall. The truth is I have these ideas but never think about all they entail. I guess I was secretly hoping they would come pre-measured and we would be able to easily hang them with no extra work. The decals come on sheets of paper where we had to cut out each star and Ryan measured and marked each place on the wall. He is a saint when it comes to things like this because I do not have patience to measure each star for the entire room. We finished the star project a week later.

Here are some before and star decal pics...

The rug was an unexpected surprise from Pottery Barn Outlet. We weren't shopping for a rug that day, but my mom saw how much I loved it and bought it for us. She also researched chairs with me because I had my heart set on a chair from Pottery Barn but it was out of the budget. She found this one from Way Fair and ordered it for us! It looks a lot like the one from Pottery Barn and is such a good fit for the room. This picture cracks me up because Trip jumped right up in Ryan's lap and Ryan rocked him.

Ryan's parents got us our crib from Babies R Us.  I love the vintage style of it!

I cried the first time I saw this sign and knew I wanted it for his room. It came from Etsy.

Most of the decor is from Hobby Lobby and Target.

Oh this teepee is just the cutest thing in the room. Please tell me this is just as exciting for you as it is for me!!! Can you picture all the books that will be read in there?! The lights give it a little something extra. :)

Ryan told me that he wanted to change the closet doors in Kade's room. So I asked how he felt about barn doors. He did a great job on them! They are one of my favorite things in the room.

We found the dresser on Craigslist and the seller just happened to live around the corner from us. We paid $65 for it and sanded/stained it. The stain color is special walnut and the new knobs came from Hobby Lobby.

In 7 weeks Kade will be here and we can't wait to get our hands on him. It's such a special time for us as we think about our family going from 2 to 3. He is due on November 7th and I can't help but think of last November when we found out we had miscarried. The loss was painful but we were reminded over and over through His word that He is faithful and we are never alone. One year later God has a son for us.

The Lord is wonderfully good to those who wait for Him and seek Him.

Holiday Barn Sales

I'm a little late in sharing about the holiday barn sales we went to before Christmas.

Alyse captured this picture of Mom and I making a trip to the car with our treasures! Alyse, my brother's fiancé, is from Florida and had never experienced a barn sale. She loved it! She, too went home with some treasures.

I usually go into these barn sales with nothing specific in mind and excitement about the one of a kind pieces I end up finding. This time I had some specific things I was looking for! I was hoping to find antlers, candle holders and a piece of furniture to use for a TV stand. Below I included inspiration pictures along with the barn finds!

Barn Find

I was so excited to find reasonably priced candle holders that reminded me of the ones in the inspiration picture. I knew they would look great on our farm table!

Here are the candle holders in a picture of our table from the Christmas Home Tour.

As you know I love antlers! I know! I know! More antlers!

Can you see the antlers on the wall in our living room from the Christmas Tour? It's not a great picture but you get the idea.

                                                              Barn Find

I have been looking for something specific to use as a TV stand. We have a unique space for our TV and I've had to be patient with the search. I knew it would take time to find what I had envisioned. I found this cedar chest at Hope Timber. We weren't planning on stopping at Hope Timber because we were on our way to another barn, but I took an unexpected turn and we ended up at the stop sign by Hope Timber. I call that a sign from God! It didn't take long to find this gem! I knew I wouldn't keep the cherry finish and could see it becoming a lot like the stand in the inspiration picture. Now don't get me wrong, cherry finish is beautiful it's just a bit formal for me. I like a more rustic farm look. It's now finished and in our living room. We love how it turned out.  I'll be posting about it soon!
