Farm Table

We finished our farm table just in time for Thanksgiving!

Our beagle Trip helped Ryan get the table started.

Ryan built the table frame while I was at parent-teacher conferences. It was a great surprise.

We used a dark walnut stain on the table. 

We used wood filler to cover the screw holes, then sanded the wood filler and white washed the table with chalk paint. The table looked great stained, but I had a vision of a white washed table. I still wanted the under layer of the table to be dark so I could see it through the white. The table was painted with Old White chalk paint by Annie Sloan. I dipped the paint brush in water before painting. It thinned the paint to create more of a white washed look. 

We get our chalk paint from Edwin Loy. Edwin Loy is located in the heart of Westerville. It's a charming home decor store!

I can't believe how much the chairs look like the ones from my inspiration picture! It's even better that they are from my parents. 

I love this picture, but I just realized that my brother's hat is on the pumpkin in the background. :)

This picture highlights the detail on the chair. The chairs remind me of what you would see in an old farmhouse. 

I hit the table with a hammer to give it the look of an old table.

This year we all sat around our new farm table. My parents, two brothers, sister in law, new niece, Ryan and I. We are not often all together, but we had the most wonderful time reminiscing and expressing our thankfulness for one another around our farm table! I know the years ahead will hold many more precious memories in our home seated at our table!
